THE LETTER A

CURSIVE A

Color nourishes me. I am fortunate to be a synesthete—synesthesia is a benign neurological crossing of wires causing the stimulation of one sense to evoke another. For me, words, place names, and numbers have unique colorful auras. I make use of this extra sensory information in my paintings. Recently I have been concentrating on our vanishing domestic architecture, especially on barns. It is my hope that these paintings will enrich your own view of the simple, everyday objects in our world.

“Whence did the wond’rous mystic art arise , of painting speech and speaking to the eyes,

that we by tracing magic lines are taught how to embody and to color thought?”

~ William Massey
